Grayco Inc. is not your grandpa’s hardware store! But it is closer to that than big box competitors like Lowe’s and Home Depot which had a stranglehold on local search for terms like “hardware store near me”.
Capturing map pack spots for a 3 location, home and garden retailer was no easy task. E-commerce was not the solution they were looking for in order to drive sales, but rather, good ole fashion foot traffic.
UX design included a prominent store locator search on each page with visitor geolocating so customers could easily get directions and navigate on-the-go. From the home page, visual buttons guide users to store departments without much digging around, so they can focus on locating the materials needed for their projects.
To complement our Web & Content Strategies, we wanted to attract the target customer on the platforms they engage with most. By showcasing new products as they hit the store shelf, we were able to elicit the “Saw it. Want it. Got to have it!” consumer behavior and entice them into the store.
FROM THE SITE, TO THE STORE
SEO strategy included many hardware and home improvement related terms but focused on targeting “near me” searches to capture customers actively seeking materials for home improvement and building projects.
We also set-up a social listening dashboard for the client to monitor and respond to reviews across each store location. The results? Outranking Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, and Ace Hardware for the number 1 map position for terms like Hardware Store Near Me and Builder Supply Store Near Me.
